OFF TOPIC: HD-DVD fiasco! OMG!

Now, I'm a coward. I've no intention of posting the now infamous number up on this blog. But I may be able to claim I have the first blog about Iceland that refers to it.

I *will* be interested to learn what Icelandic law would say about something like this. It's such a wired/progressive/vibrant place that I'm unsure what the reaction would be. This musing is, of course, based entirely on my non-academic visceral experiences with Reykavík.

Oh, man, that's been hit more times than your ex-girlfriend!

To learn about this watershed ordeal:

Just don't go posting my credit card numbers plz kthx.

... wait.

Actually. If you'll inherit my debt... go ahead. ;)

Luftgitar!

Alright, so this is a video I took at the 2006 Sugarcubes show in Reykjavík. It's already up on the dedicated website, but I had to put it up here anyway. ;)

In '87, I think, the 'Cubes collaborated with Johnny Triumph. This 2006 version features the band's children, apparently, frickin' wailing the guitar. Look at Björk airguitar!

Iceland: the Prehistory

Considering the impending starvation and credit delinquency that will result from this July, some people wonder how I got the money for the last trip. That was actually easy: I sold my two most valuable possessions -- the two crown jewels of my bitchin' gamer portfolio.

One of those was a PC-Engine LT.
Pop-up/under alert! [But it's my site so click it.] =P::

I miss them, but I'm still of the opinion the trip was of more circumspect gravity on my life.

Anyway, the real point of this post was just to test some Goodwidgets. So, with no further ado, here're some pictures of the stuff I sold to get to Iceland. I'll miss them! :(

Icerocket RSS?

In order to be a proper hip blogger, I need an RSS feed. That way, everyone can leisurely check for my Iceland updates. The bummer: while I am spoiled with Live Bookmarks, I know nothing else about RSS, really. So, I'm working to get my little RSS on with this:

A totally bogus and unrelated subtitle.

The site may be "borken" until I succeed or secede, as such. But it I do succeed -- boy howdy, there'll be my RSS action all full of win and awesome.

Update!
Bah, I'm a moron. Sorry, IceRocket -- I just noticed Blogger has the ol' RSS stuff built right in.

kontact nfo lololol omg!!1

It occurred to me I've left no way for people to contact me. My e-mail is now included in each post from here on out. This'll probably change a few times while I fuss over the layout/aesthetic. Sorry about that! ♥

Cliché?

I've been grappling a bit with my design for this blog.
I'd like to share with you my process of how it want along.

Generally, I favor a dark and/or tech aesthetic. I like greys. Bold colors. Reds. Yellows. Cyberpunk type stuff. Now, my last trip to Iceland was drenched in nocturne. I was only there for 3 days. Daylight lasted perhaps 5 hours. I hardly saw it; I generally went to bed around 8am -- just as the sun was peeking out. So: my typical visual preoccupations, when synced with my only memories of Iceland, would have suggested a dark, mysterious, neverending-winter design for the site.

Would you feel comfortable dancing with this heathen?

But! This time, I will see virtually no night (if you're slow: hence the name of the site). I want this experience to be--dare I say?--happy? Well, the last one was, too. But... perhaps less... brooding.

I designed the site as such. Brightness all over. The colors of water to invoke the Blue Lagoon. And so on. Why celebrate the absence of shadow with a barrage of black?

But now I wonder if too many people will stop and say: "Oh! Silly ignorant boy! He think's because it's called Iceland that it is all ice and snow. How cliché!"

To those people: no.

Nightless: online!

I have been accused before of getting excited and ... jumping the gun, so to speak. In fact, I've heard that in more situations than I care to remember.

So, here I am, two months before Iceland, shoppin' it up. I guess the bottom line is that I just can't wait. That said, I must admit that this inaugural post of Nightless is going to be remarkably worthless. ;) Nevermind the putrified shark over there.

Instead, I'm going to use this space to sum up my writings from other milieus as they pertain to Iceland. Prepare for a link fiesta!

1. SUGARCUBES2006 site update! With videos!

2. Explanations! Details! WTF are you doing, Pilaf?!

3. I may need to borrow a tent, guys. Hjálp!

4. My boss is supernotlame. :)

Whew. Well, I hope y'all'll get through that. I swear I'll have a lot of interesting stories. ;)
Oh, um... seen this yet?

Skál!
Pilaf.
